HCJ Statistics #2

The (BA Journalism) Philosophy Magazine has got off to a promising start this week with my first article submitted (no. 1/12) under the subcategory of “Computer Games and the Ideology of Nihilism” The magazine also now has its own individual Twitter account (see below) which has gained around 9 followers in approximately four days. I hope to increase this number to at least 100 by the end of the semester.

Circulation figures date from 19.01.2014 via alexa.com.

From this table, we can see that the main BA JOURNALISM site has increased in global rank by approximately *478,271 compared to last week. This may partly be due to improvements made within the philosophy magazine, in particular the focus on online promotion to this sector of the site, which should grown stronger in the coming weeks.

Something additional I have noticed and I'd like to improve on the site is the mediocre use of images. For example, there are currently a ton of black and white images that often appear twice in the slider/on the main page, so I have appealed online for some illustrators to help "spruce up" the site. I think this would also better establish our target audience, with the majority being students.

The table above outlines the change in the amount of pageviews over the past month, peaking at *1,025 at the start of the week. In December however, the number increased towards the end of the week, resulting in a staggering *1,170 pageviews. It would now appear that people visit the site looking for fresh content or updated seminar notes.

There was a slow start to promotion this week, which perhaps could have affected the slight decline in pageviews. Promoting throughout the week will help to improve and keep the figures consistent.
